1. What information do we collect?
Personal information you disclose to us
In short: we collect personal information that you provide to us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.
Personal information provided by you. The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. The personal information we collect may include the following:
- names
- email addresses
- passwords
- contact or authentication data
- billing addresses
Sensitive information. We do not process sensitive information.
Payment data. We may collect data necessary to process your payment if you choose to make purchases, such as your payment instrument number and the security code associated with your payment instrument. All payment data is handled and stored by a third-party payment processor. You may find their privacy notice on their own website.
All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.
Information automatically collected
In short: some information — such as your IP address and/or browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Services.
We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.
Like many businesses, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies — see Cookies, below.
The information we collect includes:
- Log and usage data. Log and usage data is service-related, diagnostic, usage, and performance information our servers automatically collect when you access or use our Services and which we record in log files. Depending on how you interact with us, this log data may include your IP address, device information, browser type, and settings and information about your activity in the Services (such as the date/time stamps associated with your usage, pages and files viewed, searches, and other actions you take such as which features you use), device event information (such as system activity, error reports, and hardware settings).
- Device data. We collect device data such as information about the computer, phone, tablet, or other device you use to access the Services. Depending on the device used, this device data may include information such as your IP address (or proxy server), device and application identification numbers, location, browser type, hardware model, Internet service provider and/or mobile carrier, operating system, and system configuration information.
2. How do we process your information?
In short: we process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We may also process your information for other purposes only with your prior explicit consent.
We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including:
- To facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts. We may process your information so you can create and log in to your account, as well as keep your account in working order.
- To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user. We may process your information to provide you with the requested service.
- To respond to user inquiries/offer support to users. We may process your information to respond to your inquiries and solve any potential issues you might have with the requested service.
- To send administrative information to you. We may process your information to send you details about our products and services, changes to our terms and policies, and other similar information.
- To fulfil and manage your orders. We may process your information to fulfil and manage your orders, payments, returns, and exchanges made through the Services.
- To request feedback. We may process your information when necessary to request feedback and to contact you about your use of our Services.
- To send you marketing and promotional communications. We may process the personal information you send to us for our marketing purposes, if this is in accordance with your marketing preferences. You can opt out of our marketing emails at any time — see Your privacy rights, below.
- To protect our Services. We may process your information as part of our efforts to keep our Services safe and secure, including fraud monitoring and prevention.
- To identify usage trends. We may process information about how you use our Services to better understand how they are being used so we can improve them.
- To save or protect an individual's vital interest. We may process your information when necessary to save or protect an individual's vital interest, such as to prevent harm.
3. What legal bases do we rely on to process your information?
In short: we only process your personal information when we believe it is necessary and we have a valid legal reason to do so under applicable law, like with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services to enter into or fulfil our contractual obligations, to protect your rights, or to fulfil our legitimate business interests.
The UK GDPR requires us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on in order to process your personal information. As such, we may rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent. We rely on your consent to send you marketing emails, including early access list updates and our newsletter, and to use optional analytics cookies and tags on this website. You can withdraw your consent at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, change your choice using the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer, or contact us — see Your privacy rights, below.
- Performance of a contract. We process your personal information where it is necessary to provide our Services to you and to set up and manage your account, or to take steps you have asked for before entering into a contract with you.
- Legitimate interests. We process your information where it is reasonably necessary for our legitimate business interests and those interests are not outweighed by your interests and fundamental rights and freedoms. This covers keeping our Services secure and preventing fraud, running cookieless website analytics so we can understand how the site is used and keep it working (see Cookies, below), diagnosing problems and improving our website and Services, responding to your enquiries, and sending you business communications about early access that you have asked for.
- Legal obligations. We process your information where it is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, such as keeping records we are required by law to keep (for example, for tax and accounting purposes), cooperating with a law enforcement body or regulatory agency, exercising or defending our legal rights, or disclosing your information as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.
- Vital interests. We may process your information where we believe it is necessary to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of a third party, such as situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person.
4. When and with whom do we share your personal information?
In short: we may share information in specific situations described in this section and/or with the categories of third parties below.
Vendors, consultants, and other third-party service providers. We may share your data with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents (“third parties”) who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. We have contracts in place with our third parties, which are designed to help safeguard your personal information. This means that they cannot do anything with your personal information unless we have instructed them to do it. They will also not share your personal information with any organisation apart from us. They also commit to protect the data they hold on our behalf and to retain it for the period we instruct.
The categories of third parties we may share personal information with are:
| Category | What they're used for |
|---|---|
| Email delivery and marketing | Sending early access updates, the newsletter, and other marketing communications, and storing the list of people who've signed up |
| Cloud hosting and infrastructure | Running this website and the DryRun product, and providing cookieless website analytics |
| Payment processing | Handling billing if you make a purchase |
| Authentication and account infrastructure | Letting you register for and log in to an account |
| Error and performance monitoring | Diagnosing bugs and keeping the Services reliable |
| Analytics | Understanding site traffic and how the Services are used — see Cookies, below |
| Customer relationship management | Keeping track of support conversations and enquiries |
| AI service providers | Powering AI-based features within the product — see AI-based products, below |
None of these receive more data than is needed to provide their service, and none are authorised to use your data for their own purposes.
We also may need to share your personal information in the following situation:
Business transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
5. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?
In short: we use cookies and similar tracking technologies to keep the Services secure and working properly, and — with your consent — to understand how the Services are used. We also run cookieless website analytics, which does not ask for consent.
Some cookies help us maintain the security of our Services and your account, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save your preferences, and assist with basic site functions. These run regardless of consent, as they're necessary for the Services to work.
Cookieless analytics. Our hosting provider runs privacy-friendly web analytics on this site. It collects aggregated information such as the pages visited, the referring site, browser and device type, and approximate country. It does not use cookies or similar storage on your device, and it is not used to identify you. Because of this, it runs without asking for your consent. We rely on our legitimate interests in understanding how the site is used and keeping it working.
Optional analytics cookies and tags. We also use analytics and product-experience tools, delivered through a consent-gated tag management platform, to understand how many people visit this site, which pages they read, and how they use it. These don't identify you personally. You'll see a prompt on your first visit, and these optional cookies and tags only load after you accept; none of them are set without your say-so. We don't use cookies for advertising, and we don't share cookie data with ad networks.
You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer, which reopens the consent prompt. You can also control cookies through your browser settings; if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect certain features of the Services.
6. Do we offer artificial intelligence-based products?
In short: we offer products, features, or tools powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies.
As part of our Services, we offer products, features, or tools powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies (collectively, “AI Products”) — for example, to help plan, generate, and self-heal automated tests. These tools are designed to enhance your experience and provide you with innovative solutions. The terms in this Privacy Notice govern your use of the AI Products within our Services.
Use of AI technologies
We provide the AI Products through third-party AI service providers. Your input, output, and personal information will be shared with and processed by these AI service providers to enable your use of our AI Products for the purposes outlined in Legal bases, above. You must not use the AI Products in any way that violates the terms or policies of any AI service provider.
How we process your data using AI
All personal information processed using our AI Products is handled in line with this Privacy Notice and our agreements with third parties.
7. How do we handle data in the apps you test?
In short: when you test your app with DryRun, we may process personal data of your app's users on your behalf. For that data, you are the controller and we act as your processor.
When you use DryRun, we store any test logins you give us, encrypted, so we can sign in to your app to run your tests. While tests run, we capture screenshots, video recordings, and step-by-step traces of your app. Depending on what your app shows, these can include personal data of your app's users.
For that data, we act as a processor on your behalf and you are the controller. We only process it to run your tests and provide the Services to you, using the service providers described in When and with whom do we share your personal information?, above, including our AI service providers.
You are responsible for making sure you have a lawful basis for us to process that data. Wherever possible, please use test accounts and test data rather than real people's details.
A data processing agreement is available on request — email contact@dryrun.app. We keep test evidence (screenshots, video recordings, and step-by-step traces) for 30 days, and test logins until you delete them or close your account — see How long do we keep your information?, below.
8. Is your information transferred internationally?
In short: we may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own.
Regardless of your location, your information may be transferred to, stored by, and processed in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, the United States, and other countries where we or our service providers operate (see When and with whom do we share your personal information?, above).
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland, these countries may not necessarily have data protection laws as comprehensive as those in your country. We take appropriate measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Notice and applicable law. As we are based in the UK, when we transfer personal information outside the UK we rely on UK adequacy regulations where the destination country is covered by them. Where it is not, we use an appropriate safeguard with the recipient, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Where EU or Swiss data protection law applies to a transfer, we rely on an adequacy decision or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as appropriate. Further details can be provided on request.
9. How long do we keep your information?
In short: we keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice, unless otherwise required by law.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). In particular:
- Early access list and newsletter. We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we stop running that list.
- Account data. We keep this for as long as your account is open, then for a limited period afterwards where we need it for legal, accounting, or dispute purposes.
- Test evidence. Screenshots, video recordings, and step-by-step traces captured while your tests run are kept for 30 days.
- Test logins. We keep these until you delete them or close your account.
- Enquiries. We keep these for as long as we need to deal with your enquiry, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Analytics data. Our cookieless analytics is held in aggregated form only. Data collected through optional analytics cookies and tags is kept for the retention period set with our analytics providers.
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymise it, or, if this is not possible (for example, because it has been stored in backup archives), we will securely store it and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
10. How do we keep your information safe?
In short: we aim to protect your personal information through a system of organisational and technical security measures.
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organisational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorised third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.
11. Do we collect information from minors?
In short: we do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age (or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction), nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Services, and by using them you confirm that you are. If we learn that personal information from users under 18 has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under 18, please contact us at contact@dryrun.app.
12. What are your privacy rights?
In short: depending on where you're located, you have rights that allow you greater access to and control over your personal information.
In some regions (like the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request rectification or erasure, (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information, (iv) if applicable, to data portability, and (v) not to be subject to automated decision-making. If a decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects is made solely by automated means, we will inform you, explain the main factors, and offer a simple way to request human review. You may also have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. You can make such a request by contacting us — see How can you contact us about this notice?, below.
We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
If you are located in the UK and are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you can make a complaint directly to us. This is in addition to the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
How to contact us: contact@dryrun.app, or by post — see How can you contact us about this notice?, below.
What happens after you complain: we will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days of receiving it, investigate without unjustifiable or excessive delay, and keep you informed of progress and the outcome.
If you are not happy with our final response, you can refer your complaint to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office:
- Website: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
- Post: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
If you are located in the EEA and believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you also have the right to complain to your Member State's data protection authority. If you are located in Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
Withdrawing your consent: if we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw it at any time by contacting us or updating your preferences. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing before its withdrawal.
Opting out of marketing communications: you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails, or by contacting us. We may still send service-related messages necessary for the administration of your account.
Account information: if you would like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can log in to your account settings and update it, or contact us. Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases, though we may retain some information to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce our legal terms, and/or comply with legal requirements.
Cookies: most web browsers accept cookies by default; you can set your browser to remove or reject them, which could affect certain features of the Services — see Cookies, above.
If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, email contact@dryrun.app.
13. Controls for Do-Not-Track features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognising and implementing DNT signals has been finalised, so we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in future, we will inform you in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.
14. Do United States residents have specific privacy rights?
In short: if you are a resident of certain US states, you may have the right to request access to and receive details about the personal information we maintain about you and how we have processed it, correct inaccuracies, get a copy of, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw your consent to our processing of it. These rights may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law.
